A Poem

Living In The Present

Because tomorrow has nothing that today can’t have

Each day is a blur
whirring by
in a rush
to get to tomorrow

I look up
lost in a sea
of desires
for something else

I feel the longing
that I see on their
faces
that I wish I could hide from

I reach out
grasping for something
anything
to keep me grounded

I brace myself
against a wall
holding it up
as much as it holds me

I breathe in
and watch it all
slow down
from within

I spread my fingers
feeling the surface of the wall
feeling the presence
of today

I close my eyes
taking it all in
hoping to block out
tomorrow
