The Prayer

Inspired by an old navy hymn

Eternal Father, strong to save
By whose mercy and grace I live
Keep me from the pits I dig
With hate and spite and lust and greed
Save me Father, from my need
To bath in sin and please my flesh
Oh, hear me Lord I pray to Thee
Grant me strength to flee from sin

Oh Christ! Whose voice the waters heard
And hushed their raging at Thy word

Soothe my spirit, my heart and my mind
For worry and anxiety have made me blind
To the fullness of Thy love divine
Oh, hear me Lord I pray to Thee
Grant me faith to rule my fears
And seek Thy face each day I live

Eternal Father, divine protector
Shield me in my weakest hour
If before darkness I ever cower
And defeat makes my mouth taste sour
Empower oh Lord, empower.
Throw all my doubts asunder
For with faith all things I shall conquer
Grant me Lord all these I pray
For in Thine hands my fate doth lay
