My name is Vlad, and with my dear friend Amine, we are building fromyourcouch — audio tours made by locals. We believe in the power of stories over facts. History needs to become magical again, accessible to and known by as many people as possible. Read this article to understand what this is all about.
No-code was our way until now 🧱
We started working on fromyourcouch three months ago. We decided to build everything ourselves. Looking for a CTO when we still had to test our idea didn’t make sense, and we were pretty sure we could ship our first product using available no-code tools.
We used Webflow to build our website, Memberstack to handle the accounts & a significant set of tools to build our features (Google Earth, Jetboost, Monto, Airtable, Typeform…), gluing everything together with Integromat & Zapier.
No-code helped take the first design steps forward, communicating around us, getting our first content & users. This is how we built our beta. We launched one month ago.
Learning & Adjusting 🔬
No-code is still our way today. We continue working on the product, optimizing it, and discovering where our added-value is the most obvious.
Our beta unveiled some key learnings around our format & quality. We are currently testing audios to narrow down our experience on a specific use (the main reason people use our product).
We want to build a company around audio & non-fiction topics like History, culture & travel. To succeed, we need to 1) enhance our content quality, and 2) change our tech.
Audio is about freedom. We can’t ask people to stay in front of their laptop to experience our product. We need to become a mobile-first company, and that’s why no-code can’t be a long-term solution for us anymore.
We always knew we wanted to add a 3rd person to our founding team, and now is the time.
Cofounder first, CTO second 🌈
1- Tech
We’re building a mobile consumer app that will change the way people experience cultural topics. We are looking for someone with experience in mobile development who can make critical decisions regarding our tech stack & system architecture.
The first year or two will mainly be about working on our product strategy & coding. Slowly, but surely, hiring the right people and managing them to build a world-class tech team will become a focus for our CTO.
We want someone who’s not only focusing on tech, but also on the business implications of what we build and obviously on the customer.
2- Culture
At fromyourcouch, love is a priority. We are people first, and will always be. We have a zero asshole policy :)
We are highly ambitious, but value humility. We always think we are going too slow, high velocity being detrimental. We embrace our craziness because we want to build something unique.
It doesn’t matter if you don’t have all the technical skills in the world. If you have a strong will to build a meaningful product & to learn, it’s already a big deal.

3- Conditions
Full time — a startup cofounder must be involved, at 100%, all-in. We don’t want to build a company with someone who’s not willing to take risks.
Remote — we want an international & remote company. We started this company remotely with Amine and intend to keep doing so. We just want smart, cool, and dedicated people, not forcing anyone to come to an office from 9 to 5.
33% — we don’t negotiate. If you join us as a co-founder, you get 1/3 of the company, just as much as Amine & I. We look for long-term alignment.
