The Front Steps Project
Matt Gomez is a senior at Victoria East High School where his final year of baseball was abruptly cut short by the Coronavirus pandemic.
After graduating from high school Matt is hoping to get an offer to play baseball in college.
Now finishing his final weeks of high school online Matt opened up with me about how his family is using this extra time together to learn more about one another.
Matt’s mother is a nurse at a rehabilitation hospital working on the front lines. While they are incredibly proud of their mom, Matt explains that her job causes stress for the family.
The purpose of The Front Steps Project is to document the impact the lockdown and economic slump is taking on families in our community.
This project was started by Massachusetts-based photographer, Cara Soulia.
I am documenting our new reality amid a global pandemic and how social distancing is affecting families in my community. All of the photos are taken from ten feet (or more) away.
