“The water project here has helped us a lot, as before there was a big problem of getting water. We traveled far to get water and it took many hours….we had a big problem of the water vendors not being available. Usually the water vendor would come from 10 am until 12 pm, but sometimes we had to go and find him. I could be waiting for two hours before he would arrive.”

At the Frontier Technologies Hub, we work with UKAid to explore how emerging technologies can help to solve the variety of challenges found in developing country contexts.

In this case study, we present the story and reflect on a completed pilot project from rural Tanzania, which looked to see if IoT-enabled kiosks could provide 24/7 access to water, improve maintenance of water infrastructure, and increase water authorities’ revenue.
