DEADLINE EXTENDED: Help us test the application of data and digitalisation to empower democracy in Malaysia

Can data and technology provide voters with more and verified information on electoral candidates and elected officials, and monitor their performance/deliverables?

The ambition is to enable people (electorate) in Malaysia to participate as deeply as possible in the democratic system. The FT Hub aims to generate learning and evidence, and this pilot will seek to understand what works in Malaysia and how the idea might be scaled to enhance democracy in Malaysia and beyond.

What motivates and incentivises people’s choices during (national and state) elections?

Is there an appetite for more information and, if so, what information would aid the electorate in making informed decisions?

How might this information be gathered, verified and shared in a standardised format to allow comparison between candidates and their performance against campaign pledges?
