IoT and PAYG Experts…. We Need You!
We need an Internet of Things Expert and Pay-As-You-Go Expert to support with two of our 8 new pilots selected for the programme.
An Internet of Things Expert is required to help us come up with the most relevant tech stack for an IoT enabled vending machine, which will be delivering contraceptives to consumers in the developing world.
We’re also looking for a Pay As You Go Expert to help us with our approach to a bicycle sharing scheme in Zambia. With many potential options, we need someone who can help us narrow our scope and drive forward the idea.

Are you a PAYG technology expert?
We are also looking for a PAYG expert to help us scope out a recently approved pilot exploring the use of PAYG bicycles to deliver enhanced mobility in Zambia. A lack of mobility is a constraint in developing economies: for access to jobs, to inclusivity, to school and healthcare and therefore to reducing poverty and economic growth — this applies especially in rural and peri-urban areas. Bicycles suited to the local environment could support some relief of mobility issues but have high upfront costs.
This pilot plans to implement a PAYG bicycle scheme which will reduce the barriers to accessing bicycles (e.g. bike sharing or lease-to own). However, significant design barriers need to be overcome, including how to apply a PAYG system that would be suitable for the Zambian environment, e.g. to enable bicycles to be remotely locked and unlocked, suitability to ride on a range of surfaces.
We need a Pay-As-You-Go technology expert to help us implement this pilot by researching possible approaches to the pilot and evaluating the potential different ownership models. They’ll need to prepare a detailed analysis on the varying options and provide us with a recommendation of the direction the pilot should take.
