Dining out is no longer restricted to the food. It has become a complete bubble of experience, appealing to all senses. Coupled with the perfect design, a top-notch restaurant should be able to send out exceptional vibes to create the perfect atmosphere for distinguished clients. In Doha, Paris and New York outstanding restaurants are investing in their designs to offer uniqueness through striking architecture. Standing as pieces of art on their own, these designs are made up of little details that create the whole experience.

St. Regis Astor Grill in Doha

The Astor Grill, at the St. Regis Hotel, is more of a sculpture than a traditional dining setting. A massive curved artwork in bronze, resembling smoke frozen in time, looms at 5 meters. At its very heart nestles a cozy couch. The sculptural installation has been inspired by the work of British artist Tony Cragg. The restaurant is named as a tribute to the founder of the hotel chain and the interior design, created by the Rockwell Europe Group, has a very modern feel, in contrast to the “old New York” images the hotel’s name conjures up.

In sheer contrast to the bronze sculpture, the main dining area is designed with short blocks of pine blanketed together tightly on the ceiling. The leather-clad furniture and lacquered walls in dripping red immediately sets a fiery atmosphere, no doubt alluding to the frozen smoke sculpture. Warm and welcoming, the dining area remains outright classy.

Ma Cocotte in Paris

It is a feeling of enchantment that sweeps over you as you set your feet inside Ma Cocotte. Tucked cozily in the surroundings of the Marché aux Puces (Flea Market) of Saint-Ouen in Paris, this casual restaurant is an eulogy to intrigue and mysterious findings with its vintage and sculptural objects.

Although it reflects to some extent the mystery of discovery, characteristic of flea markets, Ma Cocotte has nothing much in common with the nearby Saint-Ouen flea market specializing in antique furniture. Designed by famous Philippe Starck, who is known for interior, product, industrial and architectural designs, Ma Cocotte is the emblem of eclecticism. Various styles have been blended together meticulously to form a complete piece of artwork and to entice customers into an extremely welcoming environment.

The cozy restaurant is set on two levels: the ground floor having garage doors can be extended into a magnificent, outdoor terrace during sunny days. The second floor has further inviting spaces and another terrace. The mysterious atmosphere extends itself to the outside with intriguing objects left for the pleasure of discovery.

NoMad in New York

Grandiose is the keyword. NoMad in New York is an ode to tradition and history. The finest quality materials given life with meticulous craftsmanship veil the restaurant in chic. Designed by Jacques Garcia, a French designer, the place has all to remind of a grand luxurious hotel.

One of the principal assets of NoMad is certainly the mahogany bar stretching out over 24 feet. On its sides, carved elephants stand majestically. The place attracts through its splendor that extends over to the main dining area, tinted in deep reds. The cozy fireplace is synonymous to an intimate haven while the magnificent mantel stone- taken from a French castle- exudes further luxury and warmth.
