We know. It has been a long and dreadful winter. But, summer is right around the corner. Victoria Day weekend is the perfect kickoff to the best season of the year. Who doesn’t enjoy a long weekend celebrating the rising temperatures and beaming sun? FrontRow magazine will be attending Electric Island on Monday, May 22nd to celebrate Victoria herself. A big shoutout to the commonwealth!

Electric Island is launching its fifth season in Toronto. From summer to summer, Toronto’s underground dance music community has come out to support the event as well as DJs from all around the world. Once again, attendees won’t be disappointed with this year’s talent roster. For its first edition, Electric Island pulled out the big guns with such names as Ben Klock, Joris Voorn, and Bedouin. All great artists with their own unique sound.

When it comes to FrontRow and the artists that intrigue us as well as our audience, the big names aren’t who we are looking at. We want to know what the other names on the roster are up to. With that in mind, on the inaugural event, FrontRow will be covering three artists that you may or may not have heard of.

Red Axes. A talented duo that have established themselves as solid performers in Europe, specifically locally in Tel Aviv. Having evolved from a post-punk band to electronic music, you can truly experience a musical offering like none other. Recently, the duo has performed at Coachella proving that their sound has transatlantic success.

Night Vision. Here’s another duo on this year’s roster. We can basically call them Electric Island veterans. These guys have performed at Electric Island in the past and are back again this year! Night Vision are a local act from Toronto with an established presence in their hometown. However, you might’ve seen them hitting the decks at the BPM Festival in Playa del Carmen; one of the world’s largest underground dance music festivals.

Alberto Jossue. Last but not least, another incredible local talent from Toronto. Originally from Peru, Alberto Jossue has managed to build a solid following locally. Much like Night Vision, he has performed at Electric Island in the past and he’s ready to deliver the good vibes once more. His performances are known to deliver the perfect balance between energy and emotion, all whilst demonstrating extensive versatility in musical genres.

Take a listen to all three performers, you won’t be disappointed! Come join us at Electric Island this Monday, May 22nd to experience these amazing acts first-hand. If you cannot make it in person, stay tuned for our coverage of the event being delivered to you all summer long!

Please note that the location of Electric Island on Monday, May 22 has been relocated to Woodbine Park. The following statement was revealed:

NOTE: Due to the heavy rainfall this spring and the resulting flooding around the island, our Electric Island season opener on Monday May 22nd will be relocated to Woodbine Park. Previously purchased tickets will be valid.
