With the recent technologies that have been furthering the arts for the past few years, graphic designers have popped out of the shadows to produce amazing work. Gustavo Soares would be one of those new millennium digital artists.

Digital Art has taken over the field of illustrations

Art can take several forms. Through the recent years, we have come to witness a diversification of some sorts when it comes to the field of illustration. The latter, which has been capital to communication, advertising, and entertainment for decades, if not centuries, has recently known a shift towards the digital world. As such, the market is currently experiencing a freshly induced boom of digital artists, all talented in their own ways. One of those artists would be the Sao Paulo-based Gustavo Soares — a young graphic designer whose work is nothing short of compelling.

The artist promotes his work online

As a graphic designer, Gustavo Soares uses a set of different online platforms to promote his art. Given how the nature of his work is rooted in the numeric, the internet has proven to be a resourceful tool in furthering his career. One can find Gustavo on websites such as Behance, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Artstation.

Gustavo Soares has certainly been proficient during his time as a graphic designer

The artist, who often uses the alias “Guzz Soares” online, qualifies himself as follows:

“I’m a 3D artist working with Archive and Characters. I love art — especially the independent kind of art,” Gustavo wrote on his Behance profile, even though he also admitted loving traditional art as much as digital art. “I love art history and I’m a big fan of the masters of Cinquecento, namely, Rafael Sanzio and Leonardo Da Vinci.”

On his LinkedIn profile, he elaborates on his capacities. He describes himself as a “Character Modeller and Look Development artist.” His areas of expertise encompass organic modelling, facial blend shapes, UV, texturing and shading. When it comes to software proficiency, the graphic designer states that he is comfortable with 3ds max, Zbrush, Photoshop, and Vray, but that he is always keen to learn using new tools. While he is mostly a freelance artist, Gustavo boasts countless collaborations with big companies such as Dreamworks TV, Nickelodeon, Nickelodeon Jr, Meindbender, and Aardman Animations.

Soares produces original and compelling illustrations

To have a look at Gustavo’s work, all you have to do is to run a web search using his alias “Guzz Soares” as keywords. You can either have a look at the work he has displayed on the websites Behance and Workstation or follow him on Instagram and Facebook if you like what you see.

In his online galleries, you will be able to see an evil McDonald’s clown, a caricatured Malcolm X, a 3D-rendered Marceline from Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time, a gaunt-looking, comical David Bowie, and many other re-thought pop-culture icons. While most of his work deals with portraiture, one can sometimes glimpse one of his portrayals of daily life. But whether he designs a face or a quaint scene in which two lovers hide from the rain under blue umbrellas, Gustavo applies the same quality to every one of his projects.
