Auto-compounding (video tutorial) was released with Version 2 of FrostFlakes roughly two weeks ago. This article covers the significant UI enhancements we have made based on the feedback from investors who have already adopted this feature. These enhancements are now rolled out, and are live for all investors to benefit from.

FYI: auto-compounding is a widely adopted feature: roughly 40% of investors currently have it enabled.

What is auto-compounding?

Auto-compounding is a feature that allows investors to reinvest (compound) their 2% daily rewards back into their TVL (Total Value Locked) every 24 hours, automatically, for up to six days in a row. This saves investors time as they don’t need to come to FrostFlakes each day to compound, and also, it keeps the compounding schedule exact, so that exactly 2% in BNB rewards are compounded each day.

The purpose of auto-compounding is to mimic what an investor would do “manually” if they compounded every 24 hours, but automatically, all while abiding by the same rules and behavior of the system. There is no advantage or disadvantage to using auto-compound besides being able to use its precision and time-saving abilities. It fully abides by the existing rules of the system.

Starting auto-compounding

Every time auto-compounding is started, it invokes a Freeze. Starting auto-compounding is therefore just like clicking the Freeze button, which will compound any/all your current rewards. Auto-compounding will run for up to 6 days automatically.

The below popup appears when you click to start “auto-compound”. The second line of text shows you how many rewards will be frozen (compounded) when starting it.

Auto-compounding Freezes (compounds) your current rewards

Auto-compounding service fee

The fee to start auto-compounding is .2% of your TVL. This fee only applies to TVLs that are greater than or equal to .5 BNB. There is no fee to end it.

Since there is a small fee to start auto-compounding, you will need to complete a transaction to enable the feature.

The second line of the popup will show you your fee for starting it. The screen shot below shows that no fees are paid for the given wallet because the TVL is below .5 BNB:

The following popup shows that a fee of .00111BNB will be paid, because the TVL for this wallet is greater than .5 BNB:

The .2% TVL service fee is split:

  • 50% of the fee goes back to the Contract Balance (CB), used to pay rewards
  • 50% of the fee goes to the team address, to pay for team and marketing expenses

Stopping auto-compounding

You need to stop auto-compounding manually, and can do so at any time within the six day period. Stopping auto-compounding initiates a Freeze, and is equivalent to clicking the Freeze button. The six hour timer will begin, preventing you from freezing and/or starting auto-compounding again, just like it normally would by initiating a Freeze.

After stopping auto-compounding, you will have just conducted a Freeze, and therefore there will be no rewards to Defrost. Therefore, it does not make sense to Defrost then, even though it will be possible to do so. Simply wait for your rewards to accumulate again, and then Defrost.

The new auto-compounding UI

We quickly formulated a backlog of improvements based on feedback, questions, and suggestions from the early adopters of the auto-compounding feature. We noticed there was confusion about how the rewards accumulated, and how the TVL updated based on accumulated rewards. Mainly, this information wasn’t displayed in a clear and concise manner, so we’ve gone ahead and made this information very explicit and visually clear, which should make the auto-compounding experience seamless.

As stated above, auto-compounding is automatically enabled for six days. For each day that passes, you will see the following:

  • The time elapsed each day, via a progress bar and % indicator
  • The amount of BNB rewards earned each day, which corresponds to the progress bar
  • The number of freezes, which automatically happen each 24 hours (so you can visually see your freezes accumulating)
  • The number of total rewards accumulated during the auto-compounding period
  • The TVL updates every 24 hours (upon each Freeze) (not pictured)
The new UI for auto-compounding shows you a day-by-day breakdown of rewards earned

Please take advantage of auto-compounding, and enjoy automatic, hands-free compounding for up to six days.
