Ibotta’s Free Thanksgiving — Is It Worth the Effort?

Evaluating Ibotta’s Free Thanksgiving offers to maximize savings

For the past three years, anticipating all the freebies that you get around the holidays is a fun and exciting time. It started many years ago with Verizon offering free books, songs, and other digital media for Thanksgiving travel. Then, when travel wasn’t an option, rebate apps such as Ibotta started offering users the ability to get a free Thanksgiving dinner through 100 percent cashback rebates.

I couldn’t wait to see what Ibotta had in store for everyone this year. It is the app’s fourth year of offering massive Thanksgiving grocery deals. In years past, I’ve received the standard holiday fare — gravy mix, stuffing, cornbread mix, canned vegetables, a two liter of Coke, and other items. Ibotta also offers deep savings on the star of the show, the turkey — offers have ranged from $10-$14 off the turkey that you purchase.

Each year is different, so when I saw the offers this year, I was a bit disappointed. While Ibotta no longer limited offers to being redeemable only at Walmart, they are also not offering as much in free Thanksgiving offers than years past. This year’s Thanksgiving offers include:
