There’s no denying that we’re living in challenging times, but there’s always abundance all around us. As a believer and miracle scout, I’m here to share how you can receive some free goodies and save money.

Here’s how I walk out of the store with free stuff without stealing.

1-Coupons

I usually get coupons that offer freebies. Sometimes the item may be free to get but one has to pay taxes which vary by state. At times there’s a BOGO buy one get one where we have to purchase to get the next item free. If we get a dove haircare BOGO coupon, we can buy a shampoo and then get the conditioner for free. Many companies are aware of the pandemic and the effects it has caused on average people’s pocket and they want to give us a break and incentives for us to stay loyal to their brands.

A- Educate yourself with coupon policies in your stores

For example at one of my favorite stores if I have a BOGO (by one get one free) manufacture coupon and the store had a BOGO sale they allow customers to get both items for FREE! Which is always a great deal.

B — Stacking store coupons with manufacture coupons.

Last week I got free vitamins because I stacked some coupons. The vitamins were $4.99, minus a $3 off store coupon and a $2 manufacturer coupon making the vitamins completely free, and a $0.01 moneymaker.

Where can you find coupons you ask?

There are many ways to find coupons. One can get them from the Sunday Newspapers where they have inserts, there are some stores like Dollar Tree where you can get the paper for $1 instead of $3.50 at other chain grocery stores. My neighbor has a newspaper subscription. He saves them for me since he never uses them and sometimes I grab him free or cheap when I grocery shopping.

There are some digital ones you can get online on different sites like coupons.com. Some online outlets will even pay you to print a coupon.

2- Sign up with your grocery store, download their app and be on the lookout for deals.

One of my favorite stores is Publix. Every week they have one or two freebies for customers to grab, but we still have to stop by the cash register before heading to the door. By giving free items it allows customers to try new products as soon as they hit the market.

3-Track down sites that make stuff you want especially plant-based products. Most companies will give a free product to convert meat lovers to plant eaters. There’s a brand that I had been eyeing for a while. They make plant based meat and I wanted to try their products which are pricy to buy outright $6.99 for two. So I contacted the company and asked if they had coupons and they sent me free burger and plant-based ground beef coupons in the mail. Plenty of times it takes asking to receive. It might have took a while but I finally got to try their products for free. I do like them too so now I can buy them with confidence.

4-Use rebate or shopping apps

Shopping apps are a great way to discover new products and brands. They are also a great way of making money. An example is Ibotta which has ‘free after offer' which means after we purchase the item and then scan your receipt and redeem the offer, we instantly are awarded our money back making it free.

Last Thanksgiving season they offered ‘free after offer' for a Thanksgiving dinner for a family of five. Although I eat a plant-based diet, I took the offer anyway and gave an elder who told me she needed it. I was thankful that I could bless someone and got my money back. Frugal does not mean pinching pennies and being stingy — we can save money and still help others.

A- On Ibotta once you reach $20 of cashback you can purchase a gift card or transfer the funds to your Paypal according account and buy whatever you can get for $20 without getting inside in your pockets. Other apps allow you to cash out as low as $5. By using the money cashed out everything purchased from that money is free. How sweet is that?

5-Pay attention to brand ambassadors or salespeople and always be pleasant.

Last week I chatted with a battery representative and she gave me a coupon which I happily took and guess what it took off $7.99 making the batteries FREE!

6-Look out for free samples machine located in some stores

By pressing an easy button, you can select an item that is available and try it out before you buy I’ve gotten tea bags, cookies, and toys for my little one.

7 Familiarize yourself with drugstore shopping

It’s a game changer and an investment. My favorite drugstore always saves me money. With one $5 bill you can manage to get more — like twice as much. For example, I bought 2 oral B toothbrushes which cost $4 each minus a $3 off coupon which brings them to a final cost of $5 but then there’s a promotion that clearly states that when you buy 2 Oral B toothbrushes you get back a 5 RR (register reward). So basically I paid $5 then turned around and got $5 store credit which I used to buy baby wipes and hand soap. Therefore, the wipes and hand soap were FREE!

8-Look out for cook demonstrations or Chef sessions

There are some stores that offer cool sessions to inspire their customers. A customer has to watch the demonstration and once it’s done they get free food.

9- Watch out for mistakes on your receipt and

The other day I bought two pizzas on sale for $2.89 each but when the cashier rang it up I was charged $5.75×2. When I went to customer service not only did I receive a sincere apology I got both pizzas for free. As a promise, my grocery store will give the customer the product for free should they make a mistake. This is exceptional customer service but it’s inspiring to see how well they set the standard.

10- Be on the lookout for reward programs that give out gift cards when you spend a certain amount of $

Henkel, Unilever, playtex

For example, Unilever had a promotion for when you spend $30/you get a free $10 gift card or something like that. Their products are things we already buy so when we get to that amount, scan receipts and we get $10

No matter how hard things are, if we believe in abundance we can survive. Money or not. We’re always going to be taken care of if we believe there’s a way.

Do you have other ways of getting free items?/Please share some tips too so we can have even more ways to save enjoy abundance together.
