Pura Vida

After living in the greater Philadelphia area for the entirety of my 18 years of life, I am now living the Pura Vida lifestyle here in Costa Rica where I currently reside. I started my gap-year adventure roughly 6 weeks ago in San Jose, Costa Rica, and during my time here I have met numerous interesting people from all over the world, been studying Spanish in the mornings and teach english to a class of adults from 1:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon. So far I am enjoying the “Maximo Nivel” San Jose program greatly, it is giving me a great deal of independence living on my own, a sense of achievement with my developing spanish speaking skills and a sense of accomplishment when I see my students doing well and achieving.

I decided to do take this gap year in order to experience something completely different before starting my university experience next year at FSU. I look forward to studying business at FSU even though I know its going to be challenging (I like challenges). Before I embark upon that challenge I want to do something not school related for a year to experience another culture and way of life different than our own. I think that this experience will open my eyes to new paradigms and a shift in my worldview. I believe that at the end of this year I will have a new outlook on life that would better prepare me for life at college next year.

A single golf clap? Or a long standing ovation?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
