A brief overview of Domi is that it is a non-profit business incubator that is an open and welcoming resource to the community. Domi was established five years ago, but as of now there are major changes happening due to the growth of the company. Along with trying to plan an innovative five-year anniversary on a scale to which no one has seen before, Domi is also in the process of expanding and starting new programs geared towards helping local retirees and young entrepreneurs get on the right track to starting up their businesses.

Weeks before starting they wanted to help me get comfortable with the database system I would be working with, so they had one of their regular interns show me the ins and outs of the system. The director of entrepreneurship, Hannah King, acting as the intern supervisor also wanted to get to know her new interns and how they dealt with other people so we each had to take a personality test before officially starting.

On my first day, Tuesday, she gave a rundown of what our individual roles would be and introduced an incentive challenge system that would allow us to get more comfortable with each other as well as her and Antonio. Our point system is based on coming in before or on time and if we go above and beyond in our duties, we lose points for the latter and if we lose a challenge game of table tennis. My tasks for the first week was to research different data management platforms that would be better than the one they have been using and to update their data reports for their most current month. So far I have finished updating the reports and have been reaching out to different companies, applying for and testing demos of software, and comparing prices.

Since I am a person that responds well to relaxed environments, being given a task to complete with minimal supervision, and freedom to explore creative solutions this position has truly felt like my dream job. Everyone is extremely nice and open to helping others no matter what they may be busy working on. In summation, my integration into the Domi Station team was so natural and comfortable it felt like home!
