We are at the midpoint for this internship. I have developed so many relationships with the Wave staff and startups. I’m thankful for the chance to speak with people from different industries. This experience has also made me reevaluate my future career plans and what my overall purpose is. I felt this week has had the most progress personally and academically. I spent time practicing my networking skills, building my resume with projects from our marketing manager and team, while still working my research for Tech Fellows. As always, the Wave has supported and helped me along the way to make sure I get the best results for my research. I must say the highlight of my week, was the Social Networking Event yesterday. I had the opportunity to not only work during the event, but to be able to speak with the guests. There were a variety of people, such as entrepreneurs, investors, and more from different industries. I was able to connect with specialists and experts in my desired field. My conversation with Bree Sweezy, the owner of Authentic Edge Design & Co., was the most beneficial and eye-opening. I learned of her entrepreneurial story, where her company is now, and where she hopes to see it in the next few years. There were so many questions I wanted to ask. As a graphic and web designer, you are not limited in the industries you can work with, but it was nice to hear that if I wanted to narrow it down that is possible. Bree has been transitioning into working with companies whose focus is around health and wellness. Overall, Bree was able to give her opinions on how to gain awareness for your company, software she uses for graphics, and just reassure me that I am doing well in the start of my business. Hearing Bree’s advice, just gave me the confidence to keep pursuing my graphic design business and reaching out to other designers to connect and collaborate.

I am forward to moving into week 6 and seeing what I can get accomplished there.

Stay tuned!
