Week six! My time with 500 Startups here in Miami has been incredible. Between our bootcamps, events, and now the recent opening of our applications for the accelerator which will be launching in late September, we have stayed so busy that the time has flown by. It is bittersweet knowing I will soon be leaving Miami and the 500 Startups team that I have become so close with for my SENIOR YEAR OF UNDERGRAD *choking back tears*. However, I am extremely eager to apply the skills and assets I have gained while doing this internship. The ecosystem in Miami is like no other.

The Miami Tech Community

One of the major strengths I see in this ecosystem is the diversity of culture. Miami harbors a number of different cultures which makes this ecosystem diverse and unique. Miami’s southern location bridges the Unites States with Latin America making this a ideal place for startups to thrive and scale. Miami is very well connected geographically making it easy to travel nationally and internationally, a huge strength for this ecosystem. Although Miami is huge and has been a massive city for a while, it is still constantly growing in terms of tech.

What the future holds

These strengths are the reason why 500 Startups decided to make Miami their new home on the East Coast. What 500 Startups aims to do is to make Miami and even bigger hub for not only Latin America but also southeastern United States. Again, bridging these two tech worlds together.
