Node Girls will host their first workshop at the Financial Times in London on Saturday, 10th November, from 10–4pm.

Node Girls run free JavaScript and Node.js workshops for women, non-binary and trans folk around the world. This is a free one-day workshop with two tracks; ‘An introduction to Javascript’ and ‘Backend Development with Node.js’. If you would like to take part, please sign up before Friday 9th November here.

Introduction to JavaScript is for complete beginners, teaching JavaScript and programming skills from scratch. You’ll learn what programming is, how to get started, and will walk away having written your first piece of code.

Backend Development with Node.js will introduce you to server-side JavaScript. You’ll build a server using the popular Express framework, and leave with an understanding of how to build a full stack web application. No previous knowledge of Express or Node.js required! However, you will need to be comfortable with basic JavaScript.

The day kicks off with introductory talks, and then you’ll complete the tutorial at your own pace with guidance from mentors.

“It’s a really ace workshop, I did it over a year ago and it gave me the confidence to become an engineer” — Melanie Rogan, Junior Software Engineer, Financial Times.

Delicious breakfast, lunch and snacks are included (dietary requirements catered for). We go for drinks afterwards for anybody who’d like to stay and chat. The venue is wheelchair-accessible but please let us know in advance if you will need any additional support.

Please note: This workshop is for gender minorities in tech (women and gender non-conforming individuals). Here is the Node Girls Code of Conduct: https://nodegirls.com/code-of-conduct
