Chalk Sound is a beautiful chalky turquoise lagoon on the west end of the island. This scenic masterpiece is a must see on any visit to Turks and Caicos. The water color is like nothing I have ever seen. The shallow water, white sand and clouds create amazing colors.

Princess Alexandria National Park is a marine preserve that includes the beaches and reef off Grace Bay and encompasses two of the small cays off the northeastern tip of the island. The reef is home to a vast variety of sea life including bottle nose dolphins. It is a great place for anyone looking to snorkel.

The color of the water on Grace Bay doesn’t seem humanly possible. The shades of turquoise change from bright to nuclear depending on where the sun is at and the cloud cover. The lounges on the beach and hammocks will lure you in to read that book or take that nap you never have time for. My wife coined the saying, “Koolaid Water” on this trip.

The Cabana Beach Bar & Grille is a great place to grab a drink or bite to eat. It is hard to beat listening to the waves crash as you enjoy food and drinks. Make sure to stop by for their happy hour at sunset and have a Turquoise Dream. While you’re at it tell them @ftwtour and @piratebeachbum sent you.

This is one of the many incredible sunset views we enjoyed while sitting at the beach bar happy hour at Ocean Club West. They did not pay us to do this feature. We just randomly stayed there for a week and loved it!

Island Tips

Long Bay Beach is on the windward side of the island. The shallow sandy bottom and steady wind makes it a great spot for kiteboarding lessons. Even if you are not into kiteboarding, it is fun to watch them in action. If you are looking for a less touristy beach, Long Bay beach is your spot.

The Ocean Club on Grace Bay has condos with ocean views and all the amenities you need. There are other options available that will accommodate any budget. The screened in decks were great for privacy and bug protection.
