I continued to carry guilt about leaving Mark. After all, what had he done, really? Allegedly emotionally abuse me and allegedly sleep with other women whilst removing any last vestiges of self-esteem I might have had. So when he rang, I would talk to him. I still cared for him. I was angry with him but he had been such a big part of my life for so long I didn’t quite know how to deal with shutting him out completely.
