Fuck You Real Film

Metacinema-essay-film in 3D and black and white. We start in a production hall where we see all the film equipment in place — cables, lights, a track etc. — and drive slowly to a woman who tells her story of wanting to see without being seen herself. That´s why she constructed a mask (or „helmet“ like she prefers) with two integrated cameras continuously recording in 3D what she sees. From a spacey close-up with her and her camera-mask on we switch perspectives, see first the cameras recording the interview and than a long subway ride. We see her and the interior of her train but also what she sees: a long, dark tunnel — blended together in 3D. Never seen this, I am surprised how well it works. They let that final composition roll for at least one and a half minutes.

Usually I hate metacinema — I think it´s pretentious — but here it was alright with me because it uses the cinematic dispositif cleverly as a metaphor for a certain kind of perception of reality. Too bad there were some annoying stereo-mistakes and too bad the acting wasn´t very convincing as well.
