Discover One Amazing Creator Everyday Kiwismedia

Welcome Readers,

Today’s story about a self-taught developer who build amazing things when he gets angry, a guy who believes in solving a problem rather than adjusting to them, a challenger who fight with procrastination to keep himself productive.

Utkarsh is currently working at a US-based Edtech Startup as a Senior Software Engineer. Meanwhile, He keeps himself busy by working on his passion projects.

Besides, he is helping junior developers from the communities with their professional journey. And, building an audience on Twitter by sharing his expertise till now.

Q. What’s that one thing you want to achieve in 2021?

A. I have built and launched some products till now, and they have decent traction. I am planning to implement some revenue model for some of them by the end of this year.

Q. What’s that one thing you are most curious about?

A. Currently, I am exploring more and more about the marketing, positioning, and pricing side of a SaaS business.

Q. What’s the one mistake you have done and will advice others not to repeat that?

A. I have always been focused on building projects but never considered doing research on the target audience and market validation. I have wasted enough ideas which felt promising to me but did not have real value for others.

Q. Which book you are reading these days? Which Genre excites you the most?

A. Currently, I am reading “The Business of Belonging”, it’s a book about how big companies have leveraged a community to sell their products.

Q. What’s something you learnt/realized recently that you wish you learnt/realized much earlier?

A. It’s cold emailing. Literally, I have got numerous opportunities and valuable connections just by reaching out via emails.

Q. What do you love to do when not working? Any hobbies you want to share?

A. Whenever I feel bored or not in the mood to work, I play the guitar. Besides, I binge-watch on Netflix, I love to watch anime. Anything with a good intriguing storyline.

Q. Why did you choose to become a creator? How do you see yourself differently than the rest?

A. In my graduation days, I wasn’t able to take interest in studying curriculum subjects. Then I got introduced to freecodecamp.com, and I started picking problems and solving them which kick-started my journey as a developer

As I observe, most people try adjusting to the problem they come across but I get angry at the inefficient practices and processes. A lot of times, My product ideas are derived from that anger and I use that as self-motivation to build a solution around it.

Q. What problem you are planning to solve next?

A. I have some problems in mind which I am excited to tackle soon. Apart from some projects around the creator economy. I am working in stealth on a closed-community for makers; people who are passionate about building their SaaS business. I have plans to make it public, so anyone can apply to get in.

Q. Can you name Top 5 books, everyone should read?

A. There are a few books I have found really interesting, like

Q. Suppose there is a big whiteboard in front of you. What’s the first line you would like to write?

A. If you want an exciting life, do things that no one is doing.
