Discover One Amazing Creator Everyday #Creator55
Life becomes boring without challenges, doing the same thing for years, that isn’t what we have received this life for.
Exciting challenges, ideation, creation makes it fun and help us feel alive.
Today’s creator is someone who was also into that boring life of doing the same thing repetitively until they decided to leave everything behind and do something that will be exciting and fun.
That’s when he started logology with his wife, let’s discover the creator journey of Dagobert and how he came up with logology 👇
Q. As you are currently building and growing logology, curious to know, how your journey as a creator started?
A. I was getting bored of my job as a software engineer. And the worse part is that it was a great job! Fully remote, $100k salary, lots of responsibilities, cool project, great culture.
But after spending 12 years working for others I felt like there was no more challenge. And I had tried everything: freelancing, partnering, employment. So I thought the only way I would be happy again was if I built my own thing now. There are no alternatives left 🤷♂️
So I quit my job with some savings, knowing I wanted to build something but not sure what. And at the same time, I got married to my wife, who was getting through the same questions (she had been a freelance graphic designer for 15 years). It was during our honeymoon actually that we got the idea for logology, and we thought: okay, let’s do it, let’s leave it all behind and start this new thing 🚀
Q. What was your process behind figuring out, what do to next that after quitting your well-paying job?
A. So the idea for logology came from my wife’s freelancing business. Every month or so, she would get logo design requests. But it starts at $2k, and many early-stage founders couldn’t afford it.
The question was: how can we make her brand design work affordable to them? So we spent 6 months prototyping. Went over the entire process she did with her clients. From her 1-on-1 brand definition workshop where she asks them to imagine their brand as a movie or character, to design proposals that match it.
Eventually, we got the idea of replacing the workshop with an online quiz to determine their brand personality. And for the logos, she designed them ahead of time to match different industries and brand personalities.
In the end, we just automated her entire 3-weeks process into a 5-minute online tool.
Q. As 2021 is about to end, what’s the one thing you want to achieve in 2021?
A. I’d be over the moon if we could stabilize 1 logo sold per day this year. It would mean we can get 1 salary from it, so would feel way less financial pressure. I’m focusing on Twitter growth and improving our offering to get there. We’re close 😃
Q. Which book you are reading these days?
A. I don’t read much, I used to read too much and end up overthinking every decision instead of making progress.
But I’ve started reading Rework again. Already read it 10 years ago, but now realizing it’s the best playbook for bootstrapped founders like me. A gold mine.
Q. What do you love to do when not working? Any hobbies you want to share?
A. Not many hobbies, I’m mostly all about work. But weightlifting and talking 1-hour long walks in silence give me a lot of peace :)
Q. Can you name three Creators on Twitter that inspire you most?
A. @DashBarkHuss, she experiments with crazy stuff and always keeps trying.
@KilianPoulinTW, impressive consistency and pragmatism.
@cogentgene, always creates new things and don’t hold anything back.
Q. Suppose there is a big whiteboard in front of you. What’s the first line you would like to write?
Logology
One and only place where best designer-quality logos are being made in less than 5 minutes.
