Fugu Maze

Every once in a while, I remember to dust off some of my neglected apps and update them to the latest version of Unity. This one, Fugu Maze, is either the first or second app I put on the App Store (and later on Google Play).

I think it got around twenty thousand downloads in its first week so I was humming “we’re in the money” to myself as I changed it from free to $.99 and then watched the downloads plummet to a trickle. So now there’s also a free version on the App Store (and also on Google Play).

It’s a really simple app that I created initially just to try out maze generation algorithms I read about in wikipedia. The walls are just tiles of textures (the screenshot above shows a test of the photo chooser option — here I tiled the maze with my Mexican breakfast) and the controls are just swipe to turn and press to move forward. Now that I think of it, maybe this will be my first VR app. It’s usefulness lives on!
