I care about people.

Trust me, I know what it sounds like. “I care about people… and stuff… and things…?” But as I sat with this brightly colored postcard with a daunting question, it was the one thing that kept running through my mind and that I could genuinely write down.

People is one of those words that sounds incredibly vague when said aloud; the faces you pass walking down the street, a crowded classroom, the population of a given area. But people aren’t existing for the sake of existing. They aren’t just here to be extras in your movie called Life. People are individuals with their own goals and missions. Every single person has a passion and the chance to do good in the world. That’s why we need to invest in each other, help each other, and discuss our goals.

Investing in Others

Taking the time to get to know others will not only improve yourself, but will also improve the lives of the people you invest time in. Some people need the extra encouragement or push to focus on their goals and dreams. Without a mentor or even a simple coffee date, some people’s dreams or ambition would never manifest.

Investing in someone can leave a positive impact, big and small; from brightening someone’s day to being an inspirational catalyst for an individual’s work.

Help Each Other

Helping someone can be anything; you can volunteer at an organization every weekend or give directions to someone who looks lost. Even simple changes in your attitude and the way you treat others can leave a positive impact on those around you.

If you do nothing to help people on even a minimal scale, you are never going to help the world change for the better.

Changing the World

One individual can’t truly change the world on their own, but they can communicate with others and develop a community around a common goal. Nonprofits, B Corps, and social movements don’t appear out of thin air. They are created by groups of like-minded people that see a problem and want to fix it.

That’s why I care about people; we can make a difference in the world in our own unique way by leaving a positive impact on others.
