The Creative Affect of 15 Years
A Year in GIFs: 2017 Birthday Report
The year? 2002. The place? Columbus, Ohio.
Fifteen years ago, Fulcrum Creatives began as a one-person business with a single desk in an upstairs apartment in the University District of Columbus, Ohio. Jason Moore’s idea behind the business was design for the greater good.
Through the years, our core principles haven’t changed—only strengthened. Each new member of our team has provided unique skills and shown passion for their community and causes close to their heart.
In 2014, we became a Certified B Corporation (B Corp) and we were recently re-certified for another two years. We have reputable standards of environmental performance, accountability and transparency to uphold and it is our honor to do so.
Thank you to all of our clients, partners and supporters who’ve been with us on this journey into this landmark (in our awkward teenage years).
A look at this past year at Fulcrum Creatives:
We gave 5 kazoos.
This past year, Lydia gave five kazoos to spread a positive hum and possibly make our interns question everything.
We climbed 327,600 stairs!
Having an office on the 4th floor gives us plenty of chances to choose the stairs over the course of a year.
We ground 74 pounds worth of coffee beans into our morning routine.
We may be a small team, but we can drink some serious coffee. We buy local Brioso coffee, 4 pounds at a time.
You cared 103 times. We shared the love.
This past year, we got 103 care card submissions, most of which can be found at wdwtwwy.com. Thank you.
We collaborated with 45 at MadLab.
You can save the date: Cause Collaborative 2017 is coming on June 2nd at Columbus College of Art & Design.
We planted 100 trees with the Ohio Nature Conservancy.
For this past Earth Day, we planted trees with the Nature Conservancy and helped clean up Franklin Park Conservatory. We also grew a small forest of succulents in the office. People + planet.
78 pints of ice cream and beer on the wall.
Consumed over the course of the year, that is.
We desked + directed 4 interns.
We had the pleasure of working with Cameron Granger, Jeannie Leary and Zach Wilke on a FORCE project with Easterseals and Kelsi Summers as a marketing intern. They taught us a thing or two, as well.
Chai times 400.
We really like chai. It’s become a whole thing with us.
4 Pinewood Derby Races Won
In Fulcrum’s first ever Columbus Society of Communicating Arts (CSCA) Pinewood Derby race, we did better than anticipated. We also took home the newly coveted Agency Cup for team spirit. #creativeleverage
All of the photos. 10,177, in fact.
We had a lot of photo shoots this year. We took a lot of photos.
We partied with art and raised $125,000.
Wonderball 2017 with the Columbus Museum of Art was a success. 1,400 in attendance with $125,ooo raised for the museum’s Center for Creativity.
We read a collective 82 books.
Let us know what we should pick up next.
We made 49 GIFs.
The animated GIF (which is the only form of GIF worthwhile) has become an important part of our culture. 49 does not, of course, include the number of GIFs sent and watched in total—only those made.
Thank you for caring,
Team Fulcrum
