Helen Levitt's photos of chalk drawings encaptured adoration. Photo by Matthew Bamberg

Twentieth-century photographer Helen Levitt photographed during a time when New York City children drew on sidewalks and played stickball. Her camera captured it all, as she loved children, though she didn’t have any.

Children in New York City generally aren’t around anymore, much less to be photographed.

AI Can’t Compete with the 20th Century Master Photographers

These days, all one has to do to generate an image is to use Artificial Intelligence by typing in a command that describes what you want in your photograph.

To be sure, I’m not an expert in AI and what it can do, but I have tried it a few times on a couple of Raw photos while working in Photoshop 2024.

Indeed, I was impressed with its almost-perfect photo editing when it came to removing a person from a photo and replacing it with what was shown in the background behind the person.

What I haven’t tried is creating an image from the words I use to describe it. I have no desire whatsoever to create an image with this platform.
