My August kicked off with a 5-day stay at a cabin near Minnesota’s BWCA to spend time with my son, my sister’s family, and our parents. My sister has a cabin located in that area and my parents rented one nearby.
The region is remote and mostly off-the-grid. I spent my overnights at the cabin my parents rented since they no longer drive and we planned on hanging out at my sister’s place during the day. They needed my help to get there.
The trip turned out to be bittersweet. Since my mom’s accident last fall, she needs more assistance with everyday tasks than she’d like to admit. The rustic log cabin they rented wasn’t geared for accommodating her disability and they decided to return home early.
This made our time together both challenging and precious. I sensed this was the last vacation we’d take together.
All of this month’s tasks were completed while on this meaningful trip.
