Reflections of my life in photos
This month was driven by the second response, “The Story of My Life.” I selected photographs for each response that described me and my interests.
It was challenging to find a suitable set of photos, but gave me the opportunity to dig through the thousands I have on file.
That led to the photo collection shown here. At least two photos were not taken by me, but of me. The rest are an eclectic collection of images that speak to those things that matter.
All made for an interesting exercise in self-reflection.
Identity Crisis
Standing on that thin green line was a challenge while serving in the United States Marine Corps Reserve.
As a civilian, I worked as a consulting engineer. Fairly routine and boring job. But once a month, it was a weekend in an entirely different world. The challenges of an engineer were replaced with the challenges of military tactics, strategy and preparation for the very nasty job of combat as an infantryman.
Then, once a year, the Marines tested my skills as an officer with a two-week deployment on active duty.
My civilian coworkers were uninterested in drill weekends or summer duty. The…
