The last few months have been a little crazy, as I moved house which is never an easy feat, but I also moved to an entirely new town. As the saying goes, a change is as good as a holiday, but I definitely feel like a need a holiday now.

Abandoned

25 July, 2023. Photo by author

On a recent trip to Bern — the capital of Switzerland — I saw this bike in the bushes. Initially, I wasn’t sure if it was abandoned or well hidden. I noticed the dead leaves in the back basket, but later looking on at the photo in detail, the chain is rusty and it has no bicycle seat. Was it stolen and abandoned? Was it forgotten? Did the owner die? So many unanswered questions and potential stories about a lone abandoned bike.

From My Kitchen

23 July 2023. Photograph by author.

I’m still getting used to my new kitchen. It’s double the size of my old kitchen, but there are also lots of strange nuances that take some adjusting to. It has lots of windows and the way the sunlight creates different patterns throughout the day is quite magical. I love the flatness and abstraction of this photo with lines, textures, and shapes.
