August

…distinguished, respected, eminent, venerable, hallowed, illustrious, prestigious, renowned, celebrated, honored, acclaimed, esteemed…(American English Thesaurus)

As a kid with an August birthday, I had mixed feelings about this month. I soon realized that not only did these 31 days blow by at Mach speed, but it also meant that lots of months would need to pass until the bliss of summer came around again.

32-Primary Colors- Like John Travolta, or not.

I suspect John Travolta would cut me some slack on the primary colors concept. This flag display in Todos Santos, Baja, Mexico brought joy to my heart! Give me warm temps, blue sky, and a vibrant exhibit of primary colors+, and I’m good.

33-Think Outside the Box- Like the corporate cliché, or not.

We’re past the point of thinking that living under a bridge is outside the box, especially in places like Sacramento. This is a nice bridge, one might think. Plenty of room for company. Lots of openings for breezes to flow through. That we’ve gotten to this level of homelessness in communities all across the country evidently doesn’t disturb our policymakers enough to address the issue. In fact, they’re making it worse.

34-Person(s) of Interest- Go ahead, play detective.

My new home state of North Carolina sure has some interesting politics. These candidates, Outlaw vs. Law, from 2019, were real names of actual candidates running for Congress in the Outer Banks. I can’t make this up! They no doubt duked it out as good against evil. Neither won.

35-Down to the Wire- Like a horse race, or not

I don’t speak Swahili, so I wasn’t able to ask this studious looking student in Sumbawanga, Tanzania, if these creative wire “glasses” were sending a message that real ones were needed? Or was this a budding optometrist? Or just a kid with time on their hands who got down to the wire?

I feel like I should get a prize — for getting my August submission in before last minute and for still being an active participant this far into the year. Who really deserves a prize — the @FullFrame folks who make this monthly challenge happen!
