Poland has become my home. That was not my intention 9 years ago. I had come to Poland to complete what I thought was a two-year construction project.

It lasted six years. Over time, I meet my wife, and the gentile land takes hold of my soul. Plans changed, and I stayed to make this eastern European country my home.

The photos this month reflect that connection with Poland. With camera and drone, I record Poland in photos and video. Its people, countryside and cities are my subjects.

For this month a look at the simple things. A quiet evening on the jetty, construction for the future, and detailing the character of the capital city. The results are simple images of a down-to-earth yet increasingly dynamic country.

On the Rocks

Along the jetty protecting Ustka Harbor in northern Poland are oversized rocks placed to protect from the stormy Baltic Sea.

These gray blocks of stone are the resting spot for seagulls worn out from harassing diners at the restaurants lining the harbor.

On soft summer evenings, visitors crowd the jetty to watch the sun set into the dark waters of the Baltic Sea. Waters, that when not stirred by the fierce northern winds, lay flat and calm like a…
