There’s always a first. A first step, a first word, a first date, a first kiss, and for a photographer, a first shot. Do you remember yours? How do you feel about it?

I haven’t been at it all that long, so I still have a few of those early shots.

It’s hard to draw the line sometimes

I know some photographers started as hobbyists before transitioning into professional photographer status. At 13 or 15, they got a digital camera as a birthday present. And they never looked back.

In those teenage years, would they be called photographers? It’s open for debate.

And if that’s you, where do we draw the line for your first shot? Will that be when you were still a hobbyist or went pro and decided to charge money for your skills and services?

I can’t draw the line right. But whichever side of that divide you wish to fall into, do you remember the first shot you took? My journey is relatively recent and more straightforward, so I remember the details vividly.
