Frightful, Fickle February

F = February. A fickle month. And frightful for what’s happening at our nation’s capitol. Lots of other “f” words I could utter.

This 52 Week Photo Project provides a welcome change of pace! Just getting through January (weather and politics) deserves a massive award. Having a short month will suffice. Finding these pics took me on a trip through many memories of my past 20 years of travel. I’m happy to share them with you!

6-On the Rocks- Interpret that as you will.

I get to drive on one of the loveliest roads in the country — the Blue Ridge Parkway. When all of the elements come together — my free schedule, weather, ice sculptures — it’s a treat! Mother Nature created spectacular sculptures…on the rocks!

7-Pump it Up- Like the song, or not.

A trip South of the Border to Baja in January 2019 was a welcome change of pace. I had wandered outside of the restaurant after a downpour and was marveling at the murals and colorful buildings when these two boys did what kids do when a puddle presents itself — pump the pedals to create a wake.

8-The Grey City- Like Berlin, or not.

While filming in Trenton, NJ a few years ago, I explored the dreary inner city looking for some b-roll. It was drab and depressing, more so for those who had to live there. This graffiti captured my eye. It fits the “Grey City” label and challenges our stereotypes.

9- Find the gap- Interpret that as you will.

Another New Jersey find! The waterfront of Ashbury Park had the usual touristy stuff, but they also offered some funky artworks, like these numbers jammed together. I couldn’t find the gap.

What’s to like about February? It’s short. And it gets us ready for March.
