Take the good with the bad. The wildfires west and north of Kansas ten years ago created awesome sunsets as they’re doing now. Just point the camera (or iPhone in my case) to the sky and you get a lush landscape. But those whose lives are upended by the fires aren’t thinking of sunset pictures.

July has given me the opportunity to finish the book we’re co-writing. I see the end of July and I’m trying not to panic. Book tour coming up in mid-September. Where did the summer go? I digress…

Was a Sunny Day

Water faucets have a special meaning to me. Having spent 20 years living full-time in a small camper, I relied on public water access and didn’t take it for granted. Not often would I be able to capture the spigot and sunset together. But on a sunny day, when I was in the right spot, shazam!

The Writing’s On the Wall

I love visiting New York City (though I’m glad I don’t live there!) Coming out of the Port Authority back in 2017, I was gawking at the impressive New York Times facade when I noticed the jacket of the man in front of me. Always happy when I have the wherewithal to capture the scene!

Road Trip

Continuing on my downward slide, on the outskirts of Turkey, Texas (yes, that is a place), I spied this apt warning. My backroads travel sure yields notable sights. My quirky sense can’t help but stop to capture these vistas. I’ve never seen another sign with this warning.

In a Matter of Time

In a matter of time all you people will be like us, arm-less. I was visiting the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in NYC and caught the juxtaposition of armed and arm-less figures. In a matter of time, we’ll lose our limbs and/or our minds. Which would you choose if you had a choice?

Breaking Bad

Back in 2018, the school district homeless liaison gave me a “tour” in the Joshua Tree, CA area. He was showing me some of the housing stock that had been flipped into vacation rentals, upending the housing stability of literally hundreds of families who ended up moving when their property got repurposed. Needless to say, some badly broken household items got left behind.

This Photo Challenge is a welcome diversion each month! And it gives me the reason to dive into my copious photo collection, wishing for a genie to better organize them.
