Heavy overcast but the sun was shining through from behind and illuminating the mountain to the right, and the little reef on the left.

The parc national du Bic is a unique cape along the south shore of the lower St. Lawrence River, west of the city of Rimouski. Created in the mid-1980s, it is a protected area and home to birds, seals, and many other kinds of wildlife and plants. There are 25 kilometers of hiking trails — some through the forests on easy paths and some along the beaches and rocky shoreline on more challenging routes.

Photos were taken with a full-frame camera and 24–105 zoom, and an 8mm fisheye Rokinon lens on an APS-C camera. The Rokinon lens is fun and inexpensive. When the image is cropped top and bottom, it provides very wide panoramic images.

Much of the rock along the shoreline is shale, weathered by storms and winters, so there are little crevices where dirt collects and seedlings take root. Lichens form interesting patterns on the rocks.
