The River Lea, looking north (left) and south (right) All photos by author

Yes, more river-themed photos. I wrote what the Thames has meant to me over the years for Globetrotters a few weeks ago, and the appeal of water in all its forms for Know Thyself Heal Thyself.

For this post I went back to the River Lea, the subject of my article for KTHT. Actually, I’d better amend that sentence straight away. It makes me sound as if I went back to the river on purpose, when in reality, I was merely cycling around, killing time because I was meeting a friend for coffee later on.

The above images were taken when I stopped riding up and down paths and slopes. I’d been to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park (the official name) many times before, but I’d never really explored it on my bike.

Pausing for a few minutes on either side of the bridge, I realised that the light hitting the river rendered it painting-like. The light was not very strong, but not so weak that one could label the day cloudy.

The third photo was even more fortuitous than the first two. Our walking group decided to pay a visit to the Victoria Miro Gallery, off City Road. The institution was celebrating its fortieth birthday with a big, ambitious exhibition encompassing various art styles.
