Snapping Reflections… In Stillness
It’s about waiting for the right time.
The most beautiful cities in the world are those whose inherent appeal lies in the multiple canals flowing through them.
There are many examples of cities having extensive canal systems that make them an attractive proposition for tourists. Amsterdam, Bruges, Copenhagen, Giethoorn, Groningen, Hamburg, Leiden, St. Petersburg, Stockholm, Utrecht, and, of course, Venice.
For someone who also calls a city crisscrossed by canals home, I have always believed reflections in the canals can make for some of the most incredible shots.
The canals can be construed as an appropriate substitute for a mirror, especially when there is barely a ripple and there are no colored narrowboats lined up alongside the banks. There are few things as visually appealing as the stillness of the water reflecting the landscape.
I’ve been fascinated with the idea of shooting reflections on the canal water for quite some time now. In fact, I have been waiting for the moment for as long as I can remember. It is not that I hadn’t made attempts…
