The 52 Week challenge is an exercise in contemplation. Each month, I look for meaningful photos that lend themselves to storytelling. Sometimes the photos have a personal meaning, other times they are observations of the world around me.

I would say that this month fits the latter category. The additional challenge this month is to focus on simplicity. An exercise of distilling a photo into basic visual elements.

My approach included cropping, eliminating background clutter through thoughtful framing, and a long lens (135mm) isolating all but the essentials.

I also dabbled with Adobe PS Express (iPad app). Breaking one of my personal rules, no photoshopping (you can guess which challenge that was).

The results drove my thoughts captured in text. Words of observation and thoughtful introspection. Hopefully resulting in a blended dance of words and photo.

Does this Look Right?

The beach, the place where good things happen when you are young. The sand, the water and the need for ice cream from the boardwalk after fun in the sand. Yet in Poland, the bright sand and sparkling waters are not all they appear to be.

Retired these days but still working to improve myself. An avid photographer I am always learning to look at the world in new ways while telling a good story.
