Earlier in the year, we got an opportunity to be a part an incredible conference created the team behind Web Summit — The Collision Conference. Touted as “North America’s fastest growing tech conferences”, the Collision conference of 2018 was attended by over 20,000 attendees from around 100 countries. Over 5000 companies from across the world represented themselves at New Orleans venue of the conference exemplifying the magnitude of the event.

Among the attendees were CEOs and representatives of some of the world’s fastest growing startups and the world’s largest companies alongside leading investors and media. The Conf also had several startups presenting as well as showcasing some very interesting projects in their talks and booths. The event took place in New Orleans at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center from April 30 — May 3, 2018, during the jazz fest. Full Candidate exhibited on the third day of the conference.

Our Blockchain Takeaways

Optimism at Collision 2018 regarding the use of Blockchain as a foundational technology in various other industries

Brian Behlendorf, the executive director of Hyperledger, compared this Blockchain confusion stage to the early Internet days. He said that the development and progress of the two are similar. According to him, Blockchain technology will become a popular way of life with progress. People will depend on it just like they depend on the Internet. And just as businesses without a website today, those who do not embrace the technology will be seen as delinquent in future.

He also emphasized that Blockchain can be used in various industries to make record transfer procedures transparent, faster, smoother and cheaper.

Joseph Lubin, co-founder of Ethereum, added that Blockchain technology helps in removing intermediaries from the process enabling streamline the architecture of businesses and various operations.

Highlights

Brad Smith, president of Microsoft, talked about the technology gaps that exist today and measures that can be taken to fill them. He also answered questions about Microsoft’s philanthropic work in rural areas to help the rural population and minorities.

With a positive trend of growing woman speakers in Collision conferences every year, we witness two inspiring speakers Sophia Bush and Susan took to the stage to deliver a hard-hitting and impassioned about men behavior towards the woman at work, harassment at work and about actions that can help in creating a healthy co-working environment.

With votes of the jury, the fourth member being an audience, Torch.io got its place in the PITCH Hall of Fame as the winner among 300 contestants.

Blockchain in Recruitment

There are many things wrong with the present recruitment procedures. Recruiters fail to reach the right candidate for the right vacancy at the right time. This is one of the major pitfalls of old recruitment technology right now. Fraud in the supply chain, false credentials representation and the gap in communication are hindering the hiring process. Blockchain brings transparency in the process:

Candidates create a career record which contains information regarding their credentials, previous employers, achievements and other essential details

Through this transparent system, they upload their career information and share the whole or part of the profile information with employers

Full Candidate helps candidates create a solid profile with confirmed information

Employers do not have to make the investment of time and money in the verification process

Recruiters find qualified and talented candidates easily

Blockchain can help in decentralizing the way information is collected and distributed across the hiring process and recruitment industry as a whole. A few essential benefits of decentralization:

No-fees platforms
No central authority to collect data
The user has complete control over their information
Lack of forced terms & conditions enforcement

The decentralized architecture allows a transparent environment for recruitment.

We were able to Build Awareness about Our Core Concept

We got a chance to interact with a lot of people who stopped by at our booth. We were able to ignite interest among the people we talked to about our Blockchain technology and its use in Staffing. Everybody saw tremendous value in what we have to offer! Verification of candidate credentials is one of the major issues creating a legitimate loophole in the process that FullCandidate is trying to solve. Many people asked a lot of detailed questions on how we are solving this problem using blockchain technology.

What we put forward in the conference?

Full Candidate is transforming how job-seekers, recruiters, and hiring managers find, research and engage in employment. We build awareness about how we are leveraging blockchain technology to eliminate wasteful steps — and speed up the placement of the right people in careers right for them.

We had the time of our lives

We were invited by our good old, VA Economic Development partnership, for Cocktails and conversation at Calcasieu. It was a constructive and amazing experience we shared with start-ups from Virginia and our friendly host.

At night, the conference took over the Frenchmen Street with live bands, dance performance, and other cultural performances.

The night summit was full of the blast with happy hours lasting from 5 pm to 7 pm . After hours of the magnificent conference also blessed upon us a chance to meet some of the amazing minds in the start-up space. We bonded over a few drinks and shared our own unique experiences, stories, and insights.

The Collision conference ended successfully with 25,000 attendees, 600 start-ups, 500 investors and 400 inspiring speakers having a memorable time in New Orleans.

To Summarize our participation in the Collision conference 2018, We would say that we had a great experience. Apart from an opportunity to talk about our idea behind and future path of Full Candidate with many people, we also made over 150 valuable connections. We got some enthusiastic, constructive and detailed questionnaire from other attendees visiting our booth. To our ultimate pleasure and satisfaction, we were able to build awareness about our company and collect good feedback from attendees.
