Recruiting isn’t always the easiest process. Not only can it take time, but it can also be costly too. Even worse, you can spend sometimes months trying to find the right person, only to find that your choice isn’t suitable for the role once they get the job, or the person that you really want to hire doesn’t accept the position.

With this in mind, it comes as no surprise that those who are looking to recruit new staff are always on the lookout for ways to make the process that little bit easier. One consideration that you may not have had already is video interviews.

A video interview is a technological advancement that we should all be getting on board with. But why? What makes them such a good idea?

It saves you time as well as resources

As we have already said, one of the issues with recruitment is how long it takes and how much it costs. Not only for you as a prospective employer, but for your prospective employee too. They not only need to take time off of their current role, but they also need to pay out for the travel too.

If you are considering having more than round of interviews then this will take even more of your time up, so, why not consider making the initial interview stage a video one?

Not only does this mean that you can arrange a time which is convenient for you all, but also that you don’t have to take too much time out of work, and neither does the interviewee.

It is great for screening

Usually, during a recruitment process, you may find that you use a telephone interview as the initial screening stage. Whilst this may work okay, sometimes you can find that simply talking to someone, rather than meeting them, isn’t quite having the matches that you hoped for. Instead, you can look at using video interviews to screen. This means that you are essentially meeting someone “face to face” and that you can really get a sense of whether it will be worthwhile carrying forward their interview.

It makes hiring quicker

Organising an interview can take time, particularly if you are struggling to find a mutual time to hold it. If you interview via video then this is much easier to organize and it can have a huge impact on your time to hire. This means that in no time at all you will have someone who is right, in the position and ready to work!

Invest time and effort into the best candidates.

When you’re blocking out an hour for each and every potential new hire, your process becomes extremely time-consuming. This is especially true when a large majority of these people just don’t have the qualifications necessary to be a good fit.

Instead of wasting your time talking to people who aren’t even close to what you’re looking for, using video interviews allows to quickly sort through and decide who’s a yes, who’s a no, and who’s a maybe.

As you can see, there are a variety of reasons why video interviews may work for you. Why not try them out at FullCandidate and see if they improve your recruitment efforts as well as the staff that you find?
