Independent leadership

When asked about the country’s handling of the pandemic, Mark said:

“We’ve got a public health crisis, which spurred an economic crisis, and both of these things have been made worse by a crisis of leadership.”

Instead of providing coronavirus relief to Arizona families, the Senate went on recess and has gone for months without providing relief. Mark knows that we need to listen to the experts in order to stop the spread of this virus. Arizona needs independent leadership that is focused on solving the problems facing Arizonans because the only way we’re going to get through this is by working together.

Health care

When asked about making health care more accessible for all Arizonans, Mark said:

“Premiums, deductibles, co-pays, prescription medications, you know, these are the issues Arizonans care about.”

Mark knows that health care needs to be more affordable for all Arizonans, especially now. Thousands of Arizonans have lost their jobs in this pandemic, and many have lost their health care. Premiums continue to increase year after year, and the cost of prescription drugs is too high. No one should have to choose between paying for their groceries or their medication. Mark is committed to lowering the cost of health care, and he’ll protect the nearly three million Arizonans with pre-existing conditions.

Money in politics

When asked about the influence of money in politics, Mark said:

“Bottom line: Senator McSally isn’t working for us. She’s working for somebody else. She’s working for that company that funds that corporate PAC, that funds her campaign. That’s not putting Arizona first.”

Mark knows that corporate influence from big pharmaceutical companies and the health care industry has led to skyrocketing prescription drug prices for Arizonans. That’s why he hasn’t taken a dime of corporate PAC money into his campaign. He wants Arizonans to know that he’s working for them — not corporate special interests.

Environment

When asked about the lasting effects of climate change here in Arizona, Mark said:

“There is no Planet B. We’re not moving somewhere else someday, we have to do a better job taking care of this planet.”

Mark has seen our planet from space, and he knows that the only way we’re going to fight climate change is with science, data, and facts. He’s committed to protecting Arizona’s natural treasures and preventing uranium mining in the Grand Canyon.

Mark also knows that reinventing our economy so it works for everyone means investing in the jobs of the future — including renewable energy jobs that will support Arizona’s economy and combat climate change.

Dreamers

When asked about the DACA program, Mark said:

“We’ve got to address this issue of DACA recipients and give them some certainty in their lives.”

Mark has said it throughout this campaign: DACA recipients are just as American as his own daughters, and they deserve a pathway to citizenship. For many of the thousands of DACA recipients who live in Arizona, this is the only place they’ve ever called home. He wants to make sure that they no longer have to live in fear.
