Find your customers and export them too
We’ve all built segments in FullStory that resulted in a list of customers we wanted to contact, badly.
Maybe you discovered a bug on your site and desperately want to send a message to the affected customers explaining what happened and how you’ve fixed it. Or maybe you created a thumbs-up, thumbs-down feedback system and want to reach out to everyone who clicked on that odious little downturned thumb.
No matter the segment, you can now quickly and easily export the list of customers (and their UIDs, display names, email addresses, and FullStory usage stats) with the Export User CSV feature. FullStory packages your customers into a beautiful, portable file that can be opened with spreadsheet applications like Excel and Numbers, imported into email programs like MailChimp and AWeber, or anything else you can imagine.
Export User CSV is the saver of days
Let me tell you a little story.
A few weeks ago, a tweet — one of those tweets you never, ever hope to have directed at your company — entered FullStory’s notifications.
“@fullstory Hey guys, can you pls reply to the inquiry ticket I sent last week?”
We pride ourselves on our industry-leading support, so I became a flurry of action (and emitted a few choice four-letter words) trying to find out how a ticket could have slipped past us for an entire week.
I checked Zendesk. Nothing there.
I checked the email accounts that feed into Zendesk. Nothing there either.
At the end of my rope, I did what I should have done at the beginning of my rope: look in FullStory for the session where the customer typed and submitted the ticket.
Bingo! My instinct paid off immediately. After building a search using Inspect Mode on the “Contact Support” button (the button that submits the contact form in the footer of our knowledgebase site) I was presented with a long list of sessions where customers had created support inquiries which never reached our support account at all.
Thankfully the problem had an easy solution, but the fix still left us with about two weeks’ worth of unanswered customer questions. Here is where FullStory’s Export User CSV feature really saved our asses. I mean, the day. Saved the day.
In just two clicks, I had the affected customers’ information at my fingertips, all in a neatly-packaged CSV file. All that was left to do was watch the sessions, read the inquiries the customers had typed in (including the one from our Twitter friend), and use the exported email addresses to contact them individually with answers to their questions and our sincere apologies for the wait.
Wanna try Export User CSV?
It’s already in your FullStory dashboard! To export your list, open any saved segment or create a new search, then click the three little dots in the top right corner of the window. There you’ll find Export User CSV, which will package up and start downloading the user list of your currently-viewed segment or search.
