Dear Function X members,

We are very excited to share with you the company’s latest milestone: Blok On Blok powered by Function X has been selected as an honoree for the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2020 Innovation Awards!

This award shines the spotlight on innovative consumer technology products, and recognizing their noteworthy engineering and designs. The Innovation Awards span multiple categories, ranging from the latest technology such as augmented reality and smart cities to more purpose-based groups such as cybersecurity and sustainability.

Blok On Blok (BOB for short), the world’s first fully blockchain-powered phone was part of the Foundation’s presentation in CES 2019. BOB is made an honoree under the Mobile Devices & Accessories category, which recognizes innovations in smartphone devices and their peripherals.

“It is an incredible honor to be recognized by the CES 2020 Innovation Awards,” said Zac Cheah, Co-Founder and CEO of Pundi X. “We hope that this inspires our fellow blockchain companies to continue innovating with the technology and make it more accessible to everyone.”

Spotlight on BOB

The spotlight on BOB shows that innovation in the smartphone space isn’t limited to having the highest quality camera or the most advanced specs. Instead, what BOB brings to the world is a new and improved smartphone experience where users have complete control over their data.

When connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data network, BOB’s blockchain mode enables users to have all of their actions be executed on the Function X blockchain, whether it’s calling their friends or going online. This ensures that any piece of data sent and received by BOB will be secure and will no longer need a middleman. BOB users calling each other can do so without the need for centralized service providers, for example.

The importance we put on user control also manifests in BOB’s other features. Each unit can switch between blockchain mode and Android mode, allowing users to ease into the decentralized experience at their own pace. The unit’s physical design can also be customized with various 3D-printed parts and accessories.

Our blockchain-powered smartphone is only the first of many innovations to come from Function X, where we aim to create a fully blockchain-powered internet. Stay tuned for more updates on BOB and Function X!
