Function X Foundation has announced that it will be appointing two new council members: former United Nations’ blockchain advisor Yoshiyuki Yamamoto and Indonesian blockchain advocate Yos Adiguna Ginting.

Both will join the Function X Foundation, which aims to build a new internet executed entirely on the blockchain. This will allow its users to have an improved digital experience by having an internet that is more secure, more transparent, and more customer-centric. It released the first of many upcoming products, a blockchain-powered smartphone called Blok on Blok or BOB, earlier this year.

“Yoshi and Yos bring with them a wealth of expertise from their academic and professional backgrounds, which will be critical in the development of our blockchain internet,” said David Ben Kay, President of Function X Foundation. “We hope you join us in welcoming them to the Function X family.”

Yoshiyuki Yamamoto previously held several positions in the United Nations (UN), many of which involved the UN’s humanitarian efforts in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Most recently, he was the Special Advisor for UN Engagement and Blockchain Technology at the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), where he sought opportunities for implementing distributed ledger technology within the UN’s processes.

At present, he is part of the advisory board of Social Alpha Foundation, a Hong Kong-based nonprofit foundation that provides grants to organizations that promote the use of blockchain technology for social good. He is also a guest professor at the Osaka School of International Public Policy, Osaka University.

“My work with the Social Alpha Foundation proves that blockchain technology can make substantial improvements to communities around the world, and the work being done at Function X is another proof of that at work,” said Yamamoto. “I hope that Function X’s blockchain internet benefits many individuals in the near future.”

Meanwhile, Yos Adiguna Ginting has held various executive positions in several private Indonesian companies, including PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper and PT HM Sampoerna. He was also the Director of Government Affairs — Stakeholders Outreach at Philip Morris International.

He is currently the Chair of the Board of Supervisors at Asosasi Blockchain Indonesia, the country’s official organization of blockchain-powered companies, of which Pundi X is a founding member. He also chairs the Board of Directors at the Indonesia Services Dialogue Council as well as the University Council of Sampoerna University.

“With products such as the XPOS, the Pundi X team has already put Indonesia on the map with regards to blockchain-powered innovation,” said Ginting. “I look forward to assisting the team in rolling out even more innovations under the Function X Foundation.”
