A quick Talent Takeover blog this week to shine a light on one of our most unique offerings and one I often discuss with candidates during discussions about benefits. It’s always a pleasure to highlight the array of perks that come with being a part of Funding Circle. However, one benefit stands out for its direct impact on mental health: Spill.

Psychological Safety and Mental Wellbeing is something we care deeply about at Funding Circle and the people team do such a great job of ensuring we offer a wide range of tools and support to people if they were to ever need it. In today’s fast paced world looking after your mental health is so important and as a business we can offer some level of guidance whether that be tips on avoiding burnout, hybrid/ flexible working patterns, we recognise the need for professional support beyond what we can offer internally. That’s where Spill comes in.

Spill is a platform that connects our circlers to a network of on-demand therapists and mental health professions. Where at the click of a button (via convenient Slack integration) you can be speaking to a therapist via video call in a matter of days. What sets Spill apart is its accessibility and confidentiality. Employees have the flexibility to book up to 6 sessions per year with a licensed therapist, with the option for additional sessions as needed. All interactions are fully confidential, ensuring that employees feel safe and supported throughout their journey.

But I think Spill is more than just a perk; it’s a testament to our commitment to mental health in the workplace and breaking down the attached Stigma. It has allowed us to create a culture where mental health is prioritised without fear of judgement and with the long term solutions they offer Spill provides the tools for people to thrive both professionally and personally.

But don’t just take our word for it. Here’s what some of our employees have to say about Spill:

“A great space for me to really consider what is impacting me emotionally and of the underlying reasons behind that. Joanne was supportive and thought provoking. The ease of booking and contracting setup allowed me to know a bit about what to expect. But really it was Joanne. She provided a safe space for me to reflect on my experiences and begin to consider behaviour patterns emerging and common triggers. She has given me the confidence to reach out for a course of therapy to work through these patterns and triggers, something I should have done years ago.”

“Really good. We managed to get to the crux of the issues within 50 minutes and realised a course of therapy is probably the best way forward. I also got tangible outcomes in being able to cope day to day.”

Again and in conclusion, Spill is more than just a benefit — it’s a reflection of our values as a company. I think it actually embodies all of the values in some ways and It’s a testament to our commitment to supporting our employees not only in their professional life but also in their personal journeys toward mental wellbeing.

So thank you Spill. Here’s to a brighter, healthier future for all of us at Funding Circle.
