#29DaysOfBlackLoveSongs: Day 2

Today’s Black Love Song: Stevie Wonder — Do I Do
We’re now into day 2 of the FuseBox Radio’s audio celebration online for Black History Month 2016 with our #29DaysofBlackLoveSongs, where I select and share various tunes that I feel express all sorts of Black Love — self-love, platonic love, romantic love, love for community, etc. — from various music genres repping the Black Diaspora.
Stevie Wonder’s “Do I Do” isn’t just a joyous love song between a man and a woman, but a huge celebration of Black American musical traditions at large.
The 10 minute (!!! — when the song is playing, it NEVER feels that long to me) tune smoothly puts together Funk, Soul, Jazz, Disco and Hip-Hop (#DemStevieBars at the end) elements in the mix, gives love to a Black Music legend (jazz musician Dizzy Gillespie, who doesn’t just get a shoutout, but a soaring trumpet solo) and simply goes hard with a driving groove that inevitably makes you at least head nod, if not outright dance.
Hope that folks enjoy this song and the others that will be on deck through the month of February under this hashtag, explore more tunes from these artists we put out there, share the music and more!
