Fusemachines provides a seed grant to NepAl Applied Mathematics and Informatics Institute for Research (NAAMII) to further AI research in Nepal
In an effort to “Democratize AI” in developing countries and bring advanced AI research to a country like Nepal, Fusemachines announced that it will provide a seed grant for 2 years to NAAMII, a recently established profit not distributing corporation in Nepal that aims to do world-class AI research in Nepal. The partnership also states that in return for part of the grant, NAAMII’s scientist, Dr. Bishesh Khanal, will work with Fusemachines to do research, train and mentor the engineers.
The nascent IT and AI industry in Nepal is in need of access to state-of-the-art technologies and scientists working in the related field. The importance of strengthening the capacity of engineers and engineering students for growth in this highly competitive market is important. CEO of Fusemachines, Dr. Sameer Maskey said, “Fusemachines strongly believes in the purpose of democratizing AI, empowering local communities and giving them opportunities to build the next generation of AI products, we are pleased to provide this seed grant and establish a partnership between NAAMII and Fusemachines.”
