On Tuesday, 17th of April 2018, we presented Futourist at Destination strategies for the competitiveness of the local SME’s. The project brings together 7 partners from 7 European countries (France, Italy, Malta, Ireland, Finland, Latvia, Slovenia) and it’s all about connecting and sharing good practices in tourism.

In our presentation we have emphasised how important technology is for the future of tourism development and how we can leverage blockchain technology to create a perfect marketplace for users, content creators and businesses in travel and content industries.

After the conference, we were invited to discuss possible partnership with Ministry of Economic Development and Technology and with STO (Slovenian Tourism Organisation). Our meeting was held on 24th of April, in the offices of Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, where Nino, our CTO and I presented how we could cooperate. Besides us, influental people from tourism attended the meeting: Mrs. Eva Štravs Podlogar (State Secretary), Mrs. Renata Martinčič (Director General at Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, Directorate for Tourism) and Mrs. Maja Pak (director of STO).

The main theme of discussion was how to build decentralised tourism, which is becoming more and more important in creating a sustainable tourism. Futourist platform creates first travel marketplace in the world which transparently connects users, content creators and businesses in a mutually beneficial way. We believe that in order to improve experience in tourism and traveling, those three actors of our marketplace need a place for communication, information and rewards for creating such ecosystem.

Slovenian State Secretary, Mrs. Eva Štravs Podlogar, presented Slovenian vision of tourism for the next 4 years. The 2018/2019 Work Programme of the Slovenian Tourist Board is based on strategic development and marketing guidelines that are proposed by the new 2017–2021 Strategy for the Sustainable Growth of Slovenian Tourism.

Their key objectives are:

  • Increasing Slovenia’s reconcilability and image as a tourist destination under the brand I feel Slovenia.
  • Sustainable growth by increasing arrivals and overnight stays throughout the year (365 days of Slovenian tourism).
  • Geographic dispersion of flows across Slovenia — also with the support of implementing the concept of four macro destinations.
  • Increasing consumption by extending the average duration of stay and consumption, and strengthening products with higher added value.
  • Focusing on high-end visitors seeking high-quality, diverse, and active experiences, peace, and personal benefits.

We are very pleased that we are considered to be a part of development of Sustainable & Decentralised Tourism and to be recognized from the biggest turistic and state organizations!

We will keep you updated about the progress and our partnerships.
