When going through your typical workday, how many different screens do you usually use for all your daily activities?

In an ever-evolving digital world, the options seem almost infinite — from studying on a laptop, reading books on a tablet, chatting with others on a smartphone, to watching series on a TV, working on a computer or checking your pulse on a digital watch while running.

Well, according to research, your answer can with a pretty great accuracy uncover which generation you belong to. Being a Millennial representative myself, I typically use 3 screens — my smartphone, desktop and laptop, which is also the average for our digitally savvy generation. But no matter how much we like to boast with our digital skilfulness, there is one generation that we are no match for — Gen Zers, a generation who on average uses an incredible number of 5 screens on a daily basis and cannot even imagine a world without technology making their lives easier and better every step of the way —

— and how could they, being the first generation who has never even known a life without always having instant internet access and mobile technology at hand, making them the one true digital natives.

Using technology since they were basically in a cradle, Generation Z is definitely the most influenced by smartphones and social media out of all generations. According to a recent study, 90% of Gen Zers said that social media influenced their travel decisions. They have grown up in a connected and instantaneous environment, so looking up to their friends on social media for travel inspiration comes most natural to them. Apps like Snapchat and Youtube are most preferred by Gen Zers, as they watch two times as many videos on mobile than any other demographic, with 70% watching two hours of Youtube per day. Their strong love of videos has a lot to do with growing up in a highly interactive environment, always full of various fast-changing stimuli, which has led to another important characteristic of this young generation — they have a really short attention span of only 8 seconds. This is why they prefer photos and videos with short captions over long texts and seek content that cuts through the clutter of vast information available on the internet today. They value their time and only give attention to what truly speaks to them.

In today’s overflow of content available on the internet, Gen Zers desire apps that will enable them the best experience possible in the quickest time possible. They simply don’t want to waste their time searching through endless content just to find that one piece of information that will be of use to them.

What they need is a fast, interactive and handy app, where they can instantly find the information they are looking for without breaking a sweat. An app, which understands them and knows how to cater their every need. An app that is not just useful, but is also visually compelling, creative and entertaining.

An app like Futourist, characterized by minimalistic design, innovation, time-efficiency and convenience, which will enable you instant access to various travel related content relevant specifically to you, helping you out in the process of cutting through the noise of countless content, and doing it all in a fun-loving and creative way.

The future is in our hands! Let’s make it an exciting one! 😉
